Project “InterGenAAI” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026 and is financed by European Union funds through the NextGenerationEU instrument.
The Interdisciplinary Approach to the Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research and Teaching (InterGenAAI) project is focused on the development, testing, and implementation of a framework for the responsible, effective, and ethical integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools across three key aspects of academic work: scientific research, teaching, and institutional-administrative processes. The research team brings together experts from the fields of organization, management, marketing, and digital technologies, ensuring an interdisciplinary approach to both research and the practical application of GenAI.
The project’s methodology is based on an iterative research design that includes a comprehensive review of the literature, in-depth analysis of the advantages and challenges associated with the use of GenAI, the development of conceptual models, and empirical evaluation through quasi-experimental studies. The project examines the effects of GenAI tools on academic writing, research, creativity, and the solving of real-world business problems, while simultaneously addressing key dilemmas such as questions of authorship, academic integrity, and the reliability of the technology.
The main outcomes of the project include the development of open educational resources, digital guides for the use of GenAI tools in teaching and research (including the development of prompt engineering skills), guidelines for the enhancement of study programmes, and recommendations for the development of faculty-level institutional policies. The long-term objective of the project is to enhance digital literacy and strengthen academic integrity in a technological environment.
The InterGenAAI project is structured around six Work Packages (WPs) that cover all phases of the project, from management to the institutionalization of results:
WP1: Project Coordination and Management – Focuses on the efficient and transparent management of the project, organization of team activities, and administrative and financial reporting.
WP2: Analysis of the Current State and Needs Assessment – Includes a systematic literature review as well as the implementation of interviews and focus groups with faculty members and students to identify challenges and current practices related to the use of GenAI tools.
WP3: Development and Validation of a Framework for GenAI in Academic Work – Aims to design and iteratively refine an interdisciplinary framework for the responsible use of GenAI tools, tailored to different scientific disciplines.
WP4: Empirical Research on the Impact of GenAI on Academic Work – Encompasses the design and implementation of quasi-experimental studies and the analysis of data on the effects of GenAI on real academic tasks.
WP5: Pedagogical Integration of GenAI and Development of Teaching Innovations – Focuses on the development of educational materials, piloting new teaching strategies within courses, and the preparation of guidelines for educators.
WP6: Dissemination, Institutionalization, and Sustainability – Ensures the long-term impact of the project through webinars, panel discussions, the publication of scientific papers, and the development of official guidelines for the institutional integration of GenAI tools.
